Foreign Reporters Enter Icelandic Volcano
Up to 40 foreign journalists and five foreign television channels have entered the volcanic crater Þríhnúkagígur in southwest Iceland in recent weeks. Managing director of Inside the Volcano Björn Ólafsson calls the crater a “diamond in the rough”.

Björn believes Þríhnúkagígur has the potential to become as big an attraction as the Blue Lagoon. His company started lowering travelers into the crater two weeks ago and Björn said foreign journalists have taken a keen interest in it, ruv.is reports.
Currently, only a limited number of people can enter the crater at the same time. However, there are ideas of drilling a tunnel into the crater for tourism purposes.
